Cron Jobs« Back to Questions List

Hey, The plugin is failing to update the properties manual. I've asked the host (Namesco) to turn on WP schedules. They've said "We've enabled Wordpress Cron on **website here*** via your hosting settings, Wordpress, Wordpress Cron. If you need Cron jobs that can run outside of Wordpress such as from unique file locations/structures our Apache hosting cannot support this, and you will need to switch to our cPanel hosting. I've tried using https://cron-job.org, so I'm guessing I need other hosting to get this working automatically?

Hi, it’s difficult to give a definitive answer here. WordPress cron is not a true scheduler as it relies on having regular visitors to your site to trigger jobs as it uses site visits as it ”heartbeat” and not the system clock like real cron does. If you only have the site in development you have very few visitors so the WordPress scheduler may not run very often. Having said that if it has not run at all ever then that suggests that WordPress Cron is not working for some reason and 9/10 switching host will solve the issue.

Hey, if I can get an answer to this I think I’m in a position to go back to the client and then purchase the plugin.
